WHY COMMUNICATION WITH TURKISH SIGN LANGUAGE?

As Anlatan Eller, we are acting as a communication bridge between hearing and deaf people and we contribute to deaf employment with our Turkish Sign Language education.

At the end of 1970s, it was seen that this decision was incorrect around the world and education with sign language was adopted for the education of deaf individuals. We have started sign language teaching not only to deaf individuals but also to hearing individuals.

While the Sing Language of Adults published in 1995 by the Ministry of National Education has remained as the single source on sign language in Turkey, various countries have published various sources such as sign language dictionaries, special teaching books, supplementary course material and handbooks for public officers without hearing impairment.

On 01 July 2005, Article 15 of the Law on Disabled Individual No. 5378 accepted by the National Assembly and published on Gazette officially recognised Turkish Sign Language with “Turkish Sign Language System has been created by the Turkish Language association to ensure education and communication of the individuals with hearing impairment”.

By considering the equality of opportunities experienced by deaf people both in education and social life, as Anlatan Eller, we adopted to act as a communication bridge between hearing and deaf individuals as our principle. While acting as a communication bridge, we are contributing to deaf employment with our Turkish Sign Language education and we are raising deaf Turkish Sign Language Educators.

We are connecting hearing individuals who want to learn Turkish Sign Language, individuals who learned the language from different institutions and/or other places but failed to practice with our deaf educators and we are planning and giving suitable curriculum for the special needs.

Until today, we have reached 205 individuals by organising 4 corporate and 14 in-group Turkish Sign Language Education & Workshop.

We organised Education & Workshops in Ebebek, Şişli Belediyesi, Mazars Denge, Walter’s Coffee Roastery
